Especially Grateful for Motherhood

Since this is Thanksgiving week, it is only fitting that I share what I am grateful for today. I could have a whole blog devoted solely to things that I am thankful for, but today I’m going to share just one.

Today I am especially grateful for motherhood.

Throwback to last year’s Thanksgiving – LB was only two months old!
I know we moms share our love for children quite frequently, but I’ve really been reflecting on the gift of motherhood this month. In case you haven’t noticed, I haven’t posted near as much as I usually do. Rather than spending my time working on the blog, I’ve been down on the floor playing toys, watching my boy play, and watching how his little mind works. I’ve been taking my time rocking him for his afternoon naps and taking my time snuggling with him when he wakes up. I’ve been more intentional about keeping our home and speaking my husband’s love language (acts of service).

What I’ve noticed by doing all of these things and taking a time out from blogging is that I’m more relaxed. I don’t feel the need or the pull to crank out posts and promote them. I’ve found that by taking a few things off my plate I can enjoy mothering more. LB isn’t a distraction from more important work, he IS the most important work I have right now.

It’s hard to put into words how much I’ve enjoyed this slow down. I feel like LB and I have bonded even more and my patience has grown with him. I’ve found more joy in living in the moment rather than wishing it was his nap time or bed time. Yesterday he took an especially long nap and I was nearly standing on my head waiting for him to wake up so I could see him again! 🙂

I’m so grateful God has given me this life to live. It’s so humbling to think that He entrusted me to care for this little boy each day and be a wife to Cambre. When you really to stop to think about it, being a wife and a mother is an overwhelming blessing.

Now, to calm your fears of me quitting this blogging game…Don’t worry! I plan to keep on blogging because I do enjoy it so much, but I can’t make any promises for the regularity of my posts. I know you were all on pins and needles. 😉 If you haven’t seen me post in several days or a week, I’m probably just playing with tractors or have an adorable little boy curled up on my lap reading a book. 🙂

Also, have you heard the new Garth Brooks song? Although I love country music, I typically do not like Garth Brooks all that much, BUT his new song brings me to tears and I’m typically not a crier. It’s called “mom” and when I listened to it the first time, tears started started coming and LB was staring at me like I was a crazy person. Here it is in case you haven’t heard it! Let me know what you think!

I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving tomorrow and if you go Black Friday shopping, just remember, no sale is worth a black eye. If there is a lady bigger than you fighting for the same thing, just let her have it.
